To be admired is one of the greatest feelings in the world. If you have a lot of people looking up to you or admiring you, it can make you feel really good about yourself. However, there’s a negative side to having a lot of people admire or respect you. It can cause insecurity if they all look up to you and you don’t know what they expect of you. You might start to compare yourself to other people who are looked up to because they have more on their plate than you do. It's not hard as long as you understand that everyone isn’t going to like everything about you at first glance and there’s always someone who has more reason than others to dislike you.

Learn to figure out solutions to problems

If you’re faced with a situation where you don’t know what to do, take the time to seriously think about what the logical steps would be to get you out of that situation. This can help you come up with a solution that works for you. If you have a problem where you feel like you don’t have the answer, instead of being insecure about it and wondering what everyone else thinks about you, try to figure out how you can bring some clarity to the situation. This can help you be more comfortable with yourself and earn respect.

Make promises you can keep

When people get close to you, they’ll start to see the person behind the public persona. They may start to see you in a new way or they might want you to help them out with their problems. They’ll start to see what you’re capable of doing and if you can keep your words or not. It doesn’t feel good to break a promise unless you have no intention of keeping it. If you make a promise that you know you can keep, people will be more inclined to give you the respect you need.

Apologize less

People like apologizing too, and it’s a sign of weakness. Don’t apologize for a lot of things that are not worth apologizing for. It’s okay to ask someone to do you a favor or to give you a little bit of help from time to time. If you want to apologize, apologize to the right person. Don’t apologize to the wrong person or apologize for the same thing over and over again. It’s okay to apologize once in a while, but don’t apologize too often. Apologies have to be sincere and come from the heart. If you keep apologizing, no one will respect you.

Make punctuality your friend

People respect people who show up on time or who keep their word. If you say that you’ll be there at a certain time, most people will assume that you’ll show up at least a little bit early. If you show up a little late and explain to people why you’re late, most people might not be that bothered by it. Being on time is not only an obligation, it’s a sign of respect. It’s a great way to show people that you respect them and that you care about their time more than your own. It’s important to know that showing up on time doesn’t just benefit you, it benefits the people who are waiting on you as well.

Being too Nice is a no

Don’t be so nice to people that you don’t want to be nice too. There’s a fine line between being nice and being too nice. Being too nice can make it so that people don’t want anything to do with you. People will see that you’re too nice to them and they might forget about you. If a person is too nice, they might start to feel bad about themselves because they think that if they were just a little nicer, they’d be a lot luckier.

Be Open-minded, you have a lot to learn

People respect those who are open-minded. It doesn’t mean that you have to agree with everybody all the time, it just means that you have to learn to be open-minded to the other person’s point of view. It’s important to remember that people might not agree with you all the time, but they will respect you more if you’re open-minded to their point of view. If somebody has something to say to you, be open-minded enough to listen to them even if you don’t agree with their opinion. You’ll be a lot more respected if you remember to keep an open mind.

Add premium value to other people's lives

Social interactions are built on trust. If you want to build trust, you have to be trustworthy. If you want to be someone who has a lot of friends and people who respect you, you need to think about how you can add value to other people's lives. Everybody has something to offer to the world. If you have something you can offer, try to think of other people who might benefit from it. Try to add value to the world in some way. If people respect you for something that you’ve done for other people, they’re going to respect you a lot more. There are a lot of ways that you can add value to other people's lives, find out the ones you can do, and do them.
