There are many good things that have come into my life and Reiki is one of those things. According to the Merriam Dictionary, Reiki is a hands-on energy work used by an experienced practitioner. Reiki strengthens and normalizes vital energy fields within the body.

Reiki History

The most recent origination of Reiki was in Japan. The technique of Reiki reduces stress and assists in the relaxation process. This also promotes healing. I have done some research and found the lineage of Reiki. The lineage is traceable to India, the last known place of Jesus' existence. There are many debates on whether Jesus lived after the stake incident. Some people believe he escaped to India to live out the rest of his days.

Reiki is a practice of laying the hands on the physical body or placing the hands above the location receiving life force energy. There is also a practice of distance Reiki. The Japanese translation for Rei is God’s wisdom or Higher Power, and Ki means Life force energy. Reiki is a “spiritually guided life force energy.* Reiki treats the entire person that includes the body, emotion, mind and spirit. Reiki is able to assist with all known illnesses and works in conjunction with all medical techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery.

Reiki is not taught in the usual sense, but is transferred to the student during a Reiki class. The process of transferring is called an attunement that is given by a Reiki Master Teacher and this allows the student to tap into the unlimited supply of life force energy.

Finding Reiki

I am not exactly sure where I first heard the word Reiki, but I started to do more research after I had a very intense cranial massage accompanied with visions. It was shortly thereafter, that I knew I wanted to learn Reiki. A door had been opened after that massage and I started seeing visions and experiencing supernatural occurrences. This left me open and I had read that Reiki would be a form of protection.

My first step was to find a place where I could experience Reiki firsthand. I have always known that if a person asks the heavens, and if things work alongside a person’s life path it will be given. There are many things a person needs to do in order for this all to work in harmony. I may share some of these techniques in the future.

My First Reiki Experience

For a large city like New York City, it actually took me a month to figure out where I would get my first Reiki experience. Of course, I had a very strong criteria since I am a high-sensitive, and I cannot allow just anyone to touch me. I found a Reiki Master Teacher that was offering her touch at a Healing Fair. I arrive and I am quite tense to say the least. The room was full of people wanting to try all different types of energy work and I had never tried anything but a massage and most recently a cranial massage.

The Reiki section of the Healing Fair was a little busy, but I was not eager to lay on a table in front of everyone in a very large room. When it was my turn, I said I had never experienced Reiki before and everyone’s head turned up with excitement. That made me more uneasy but I wanted to be open to the experience. For some unknown reason, the Reiki Master Teacher and four of her students all offered to work on me at the same time.

I cannot tell you how difficult the entire experience had been for me up until that point. But I forced myself to lay down on that table, open myself up, and allowed it to happen. I had another life changing moment. I learned that my ability also included seeing a person’s Being. I laid on that table with my eyes closed, but I saw every single person in their Light form placing their hands on my body. I was near tears the entire time, but I also wanted to accept the gift they were sharing with me. I knew immediately that I had to be able to do what they were doing, and to be able to share this with everyone.

Attuned to Reiki

It was not long after my first hands-on experience that I looked for a Reiki Master Teacher to attune me to Reiki. From my research I knew that it could take years, but I have never had much patience for that. I did all I had to do with the heavens and sure enough, within a couple of weeks I found my teacher.

I obtained Reiki I and II from a lovely Columbia University graduate who was attuned by Diane Stein. The very author of Essential Reiki, so not only was I blessed with a powerful teacher but also an honorable lineage. It was during a conversation with my aunt that I found out that she was a Reiki Master Teacher. My aunt attuned me as a Reiki Master Teacher within a month of my Reiki I and II attunements. Pops had answered every single prayer.

Five years later, I became attuned as a Medical Reiki Master and I can now go into operating rooms. Throughout my Reiki journey, everything has been to assist those in pain and continue my spiritual knowledge. This knowledge has led me to assist many and the knowledge is never-ending. My main focus is to stay on my life path and continue to grow.

Reiki Facts

Reiki is spiritual in nature, but it is not religious. There is nothing a person should believe to learn or use Reiki. It is a matter of being open to the Light. Reiki will work, whether a person believes it or not. Although Reiki is not a religion, it is imperative that one lives and acts to promote harmony with others.

Modern Day Founder - Mikao Usui

The founder of the modern Reiki system was doctor Mikao Usui, and his method was to instill ethics to promote peace and harmony. These ethics are universal across all cultures. It was during a meditation that Usui developed Reiki, based on five principals. The five principals were like the ones used by Meiji Emperor of Japan who Usui admired and ultimately created a balance in Usui Reiki.

For a Reiki practitioner, needs to decide to improve oneself and to accept responsibility for one’s own healing and takes an active role. In order for the energy work to keep a strong flow is to live a life of graciousness and virtue. Reiki has provided the protection I sought at the beginning of my journey to this very day. I have no regrets.

Conclusion

If you ever have the opportunity to experience Reiki, even if it is only a 15 minute session you might find it enjoyable. Recently, I was able to send someone distance Reiki for someone I met on Steemit. Our fellow Steemian had never experienced energy work, but she was open and allowed the energy to work within her body. I was in Colorado and she was in Massachusetts, and she was in a lot of pain with a migraine. The migraine was gone within a few minutes.

If you have never tried Reiki, I encourage any questions or comments. Also, if you have tried Reiki and would like to share, please feel free to leave a comment.
