Sometimes I just look at my children and wonder how one little person can mean so much to me. Motherhood is funny because it’s not always the big moments that get me. Most of the time, it’s the really simple things.

It might be them saying something completely random that makes me laugh when I’m already having a stressful day. Or those little arms coming around me for a hug when I least expect it. Sometimes it’s just sitting together, watching something, or listening to a long story that probably could have been told in two minutes but somehow takes twenty.

At times they will be fighting over something unnecessary. You will be hearing mommy come and warn this mommy come and see something and when I get there, it will be something unreasonable but then that is what motherhood is all about.

There are mornings when I wake up already thinking about everything I need to do. The house might be messy, there is laundry waiting, dishes in the sink, and a list of things that I keep telling myself I’ll get to later. Some days I feel like I’m constantly doing something and still somehow getting nothing done.

And when I saw them laughing innocently at me, I will definitely know something is fishy, my kids smiling at me means they have caused mess somewhere and that definitely means additional work for me.

And for a little while, I forget about everything else. It is strange how something so small can change my whole mood.

I think that is one of the things motherhood has taught me. Love doesn’t always come in big, dramatic moments. Sometimes it’s just sitting beside your child while they tell you about their day.

And sometimes it’s just looking at them while they are sleeping and thinking, “How did I get so lucky?”

I know I complain sometimes, I get overwhelmed, I get frustrated. I have days when I desperately need five minutes to myself. I think that is normal too. Being a mother doesn’t mean every moment is perfect or that I never get tired of the noise, the mess, or the endless demands.

But even on those hard days, there is this love underneath everything. A love that I can’t really explain.

Lately, I have been thinking more about how quickly children grow. The little kid of yesterday, will start going to school, they will be older and they won’t need me in quite the same way.

Not every day has to be perfect. The house doesn't always have to be clean. I don't have to have everything figured out. Sometimes I just want to slow down and enjoy being here.

Because these ordinary days that I'm living right now might actually be the days I look back on and miss the most.
My child has changed my life in so many ways, but the biggest thing is probably the way they have changed my understanding of love.

I didn’t know my heart could hold this much love for one person. And honestly, I’m just grateful that I get to experience it.

Thank for checking on my blog and have a wonderful day
