Hi, guys!
I had an interesting conversation with my husband yesterday. He asked if I planned to invent languages for my book. I hadn't intended to before that moment, but the second he asked, I naturally decided to do it right away. And so, I immediately started coming up with those languages. The process was underway. I sent my husband the first few phrases, and he started worrying I might accidentally summon demons. But it was fine—I didn't summon anyone, though the initial phrases turned out brilliantly. So, the characters have started speaking their own language bit by bit, and it’s wonderful. I’d even say it’s downright sexy. I can’t describe what an intoxicating feeling it is.
Now there are more and more aspects to the world, and it’s an incredible thrill. I’m waiting to see what other interesting things the characters will throw my way to develop; it’s fascinating to see what they might come up with or what surprises they might spring on me—devising and fleshing out these details is so engaging. There are still maps and timelines ahead—so much to do. I have no idea how I’ll handle it all yet, but I’ll have to manage somehow; otherwise, I simply won’t be able to pull off a world like this. It won’t truly breathe unless I work out every last detail. But once it’s fully developed, it will be a place where one can truly live. And I’m really looking forward to that moment—when the monster I’ve created stands up, dusts itself off, and walks forward on its own two feet.
For now, I’m just keeping at it and watching it all grow. It’s an incredibly satisfying feeling. So, I’m watching it come to life. I don’t know when—or even if—I’ll be able to return to my other books. They’re certainly worth it, but I just don’t know if or when that will happen. I’d like to, of course, but the monster I’m creating right now takes absolute priority. There is huge potential there. My world lives and breathes, so it needs as much oxygen as possible.
Have a great day, everyone!
