We learn daily as we live and one of the things that had made us sad the more are disappointments from the things we had high hopes on. I've lived differently for a very long time, not expecting anything, not from anyone, neither family nor friends and this has helped me maintain my peace. I have learned to live on the neutral, not putting a big deal to what others may believe can bring them happiness- I just live, trusting on every answer I get from life, people, events, outcomes, etc. And that's where my peace begins.
The quote Expectations Hurt is a famous one, especially among people who had been disappointed in the past. Only such people understand the gravity of putting hope on any system or person. I am glad to have learned this lesson from early in life, so much disappointment even from people who by birth should have given one the best of life, and people I have trusted will never fail. Some learned this later in life, while some never did, but this became my favorite quote after I pondered about life and realized I may lose touch of peace and happiness if I had to expect anything from anyone.
So where expectations end, peace begins there. Peace that comes from accepting anything you get, peace of not dwelling in the fancy of what others admire, the peace that comes with contentment, and peace that makes your heart rejoice even when it seems to go wrong. Ever since I came in touch with that quote, I've incorporated it, not just in my daily activities, but in anything that concerns my life including this hive space and there's peace that comes from having little or no expectations. I'm not entitled to anything in life , so whatever I have or get, I am given by people who out of their free will give and if I don't receive , I owe no one to it.
I read a book some times ago, how to go from where you are to where you want to be by Canfield and the first principle he outline to success was Taking 100% responsibility for everything that happens to you. It means, don't expect anything from anyone, whatever happens, hold it to yourself as the creator. So if anything is going to change, it should be by you and from you and not the action and inaction of others in one's life and that's why I hardly nothing anything that comes from one's actions in an attempt to frustrate or bully me- I just live with zero expectations, doing what i want and how I want with no trouble.
Finally, in my honest opinion I believe this quote starts the existence of peace in one's life. One can't live with thousand expectations and expect to find peace when all his hope is dashed to the wall. Peace comes where our expectations end and that's what guarantees true peace, we are lone individuals, putting one's expectations on another may only result in hurt. I've learned to live with no expectations and I'll gladly say to anyone “Where expectations end… peace begins there”
