A book of 1000 pages could be written about Dubrovnik, a city that is many centuries old, and not just one post, so this time I will skip presenting historical facts 馃檪
I will share with you the photos that I have, and I suggest that, if you want, search the Wikipedia site, the history of Dubrovnik and this area, it will leave a strong impression on you...
I searched through my old photo gallery to see if I could find some more photos that I promised to post in this post, photos from Dubrovnik, an old city in the south of Croatia on the coast of the Adriatic Sea.
For a city that is over a thousand years old, time seems to not exist.
It's as if these 11 years since my second visit have passed in the blink of an eye...
That's how it seems to me now, when I look at the pictures, as if nothing has changed, except for some wrinkles on my face or gray hairs on my head 馃榿
My first tour of Dubrovnik, I almost don't remember it. It was 1986 when I was 10 years old. At that time, I spent the summer in nearby Cavtat, and with my parents came on a trip to Dubrovnik for one day. It was an uninteresting place for me then, a city of fortresses. I was just waiting for us to return to Cavtat and to continue swimming 馃檪
The second tour was during the Adriatic Sea cruise, in June 2013. At that time, one of the cities that the cruise ship sailed into was Dubrovnik (we also visited Split, Kotor, Trieste, Ancona, Kefalonia, Corfu...).
That day, from the cruise ship, we had organized transportation to the main entrance to the old town - we didn't bother with parking.
That day, we rode the cable car to the "Krst(Cros)" lookout point, which offers a wonderful view of the city and its surroundings.
Since it was too hot, we looked for the nearest beach where we refreshed ourselves. Afterwards, we sat by the walls of the old town and listened to the sound of the waves...
I'm looking at pictures of the T-shirt I wore then, which I presented in this post. it's really been my favorite for a long time and it's really old, it's over 13 years old 馃檪
We took our next tour of Dubrovnik, exactly 9 years later, in June 2022, by car. We were staying in Trebinje and had a plan for a day trip.
Due to the expensive parking near the walls of the old town, we left the car in the residential part of the town in the parking zone and then walked along the promenade to the famous plateau and the main entrance to the old town.
Everything was the same as in 2013... The same color of the sea, the same walls, only we are a little older and have better photo resolution 馃檪
We didn't ride the cable car back then. We walked around "Stradun (the main street and square in the old town)", entered the church and after a short rest in one of the restaurants on the square, we started looking for a beach where we could swim.
This beach was better than the one where we swam in 2013.
A real beach bar, with deckchairs and canopies, Copacabana beach.
If you have the opportunity (@godfish by car, you're in Dubrovnik), stop by, you won't regret it.
After swimming and enjoying the beach, we took the Adriatic highway to Trebinje.
Then I saw a cruiser on the open sea, similar to the one that brought us to visit Dubrovnik 11 years ago...
I hope that I will visit Dubrovnik at least once more in my life by cruise ship, and I will definitely come by car some other time.
Thank you for stopping by my post and I hope you enjoyed the photos and the story I shared with you
