Sometimes, photography can seem like a hobby of just collecting images. Other times, it can have a real sense of purpose and duty. This image was one of the latter...

I was fortunate enough to catch this glowing image of my friend's dog shortly before the dog passed away. It was a very old dog and almost didn't make it to the family shoot as she had trouble standing a few weeks prior. Luckily, a couple weeks later the dog sprang back into life and was amazingly peppy on this photosession with my friend and his family of four-and-a-half. You almost couldn't tell the dog was a senior. Looking back, it was quite the emotional shoot as I know my friend (and maybe the dog) knew it was their last together. Oh man, did someone just cut onions near me?!?

Doing shoots like this remind me that I've found the right calling as a photographer.
