Who knew that astral projection time travel could be so messy and gross! One of the ways that I had hoped to create a unique identity for the Ithaqa series was that I wanted to create a magic system that was biological and frankly off-putting. Concepts like time travel and astral projection, or even magic so often in literature seem like clean and elegant/epic endeavors. It usually feels energy based, or as if being drawn from a higher and purer plane than the one we exist on. I asked myself, what if time travel was slimy? What if wormholes were really gross to walk through? What if the fabric of existence itself was more biological than we've been led to believe?
