There was little or nothing to indicate a sudden price move like this, so it appears to be fundamental-driven. In other words... something just happened, and insiders with details are already buying STEEM.
Was there an announcement just made? A deal signed? A massive stake bought or sold?
Perhaps we'll have to wait for morning to find out, but the timing suggests something could have occurred overseas - perhaps Korea?
