El día de hoy quiero compartir con ustedes la larga ruta que a diario camino para llegar a mi trabajo, el cual realizo en un consultorio público que se encuentra un poco retirado de la ciudad, específicamente en una colina por donde no transita el transporte público, el sector es llamado Colina de lajas Azules de la ciudad de Carora.
Today I want to share with you the long route that I walk every day to get to my job, which I do in a public office that is a little removed from the city, specifically on a hill where public transport does not pass, the sector is called Colina de lajas Azules in the city of Carora.

La ruta desde mi casa es de aproximadamente 3 kilómetros, y tardo en llegar a la consulta un aproximado de 20 minutos, por lo pronunciado de la colina hy el mal estado de las vias. Salgo de mi casa a las 7:30 de la mañana para comenzar la consulta a las 8:00 am, a esa hora ya los pacientes se encuentran a la espera. Allí presta apoyo una persona de la comunidad, para organizar y dar los números a los pacientes.
The route from my house is approximately 3 kilometers, and it takes me approximately 20 minutes to get to the office, due to the steepness of the hill and the poor condition of the roads. I leave my house at 7:30 in the morning to start the consultation at 8:00 am, at that time the patients are already waiting. There, a person from the community lends support to organize and give the numbers to the patients.
El consultorio lleva el nombre del Dr. José Gregorio Hernández, el medico de los pobres, como se le conoce acá en Venezuela, quien hace poco fue beatificado. Hace 6 años que laboro en este centro asistencial y a pesar de la distancia que recorro me agrada el ambiente de trabajo y ya me considero parte de la comunidad, para mí es un placer atender a la gente humilde y el cariño con que me reciben no tiene precio. Muchas veces las personas se acercan hasta la consulta y me llevan cualquier presente desde una taza de café, pan, arepas, mangos, parchitas, cualquier cosa y eso se siente bien, porque sé que les gusta la atención recibida.
The office is named after Dr. José Gregorio Hernández, the doctor of the poor, as he is known here in Venezuela, who was recently beatified. I have been working in this healthcare center for 6 years and despite the distance I travel I like the work environment and I already consider myself part of the community, for me it is a pleasure to serve humble people and the affection with which they receive me does not have price. Many times people come to the consultation and bring me anything from a cup of coffee, bread, arepas, mangoes, patties, anything and that feels good, because I know they like the attention received.
Allí se prestan servicios de medicina general y odontología; siendo mi responsabilidad la parte de medicina general a diario atiendo aproximadamente 20 pacientes, aunque este número ha ido disminuyendo luego de la pandemia y por el hecho de que no hemos recibido más insumos para donarlos en la consulta. Anteriormente se consultaba al paciente y se le entregaba el tratamiento a cumplir.
General medicine and dentistry services are provided there; being my responsibility the part of general medicine every day I treat approximately 20 patients, although this number has been decreasing after the pandemic and due to the fact that we have not received more supplies to donate them in the consultation. Previously, the patient was consulted and the treatment to be carried out was given.
En mi caso camino un aproximado de 6 kilómetros diarios para ir y venir a mi lugar de trabajo; así como yo existen millones de venezolanos que a diario caminan largas distancias para acudir a sus labores, muchas veces no por el pago sino porque nos gusta lo que hacemos. Como les he dicho anteriormente, yo soy de los venezolanos que aún no se rinde y apuesta por un futuro mejor, por mi familia y por mis hijos sigo aportando mi granito de arena por Venezuela.
In my case, I walk approximately 6 kilometers a day to go and come to my place of work; Just like me, there are millions of Venezuelans who walk long distances every day to go to work, many times not because of payment but because we like what we do. As I have told you before, I am one of the Venezuelans who still do not give up and bet for a better future, for my family and for my children I continue to contribute my bit for Venezuela.
