(WE90) Weekend-Engagement
I sat on the beautiful chair. It was made of fine black leather. The upholstery was made of average finish. my legs firmly on the ground.
I looked around me and noted that the atmosphere was charged with a deafening silence
But the number of eyes piercing through my skin was enough to tell me that there was a problem.
I felt like an alien in my spaceship, who just arrived on an intergalactic mission and the people of the earth are looking at me expecting something that they'd never expected.

Well, as for me, I didn't care.
I carried the remote control unit and pressed the numbers, 3, 0, 5.
Then it happened.
The transformation was nearly instant.
The mosaic of disgruntled faces colored the whole room.
They were not happy, obviously...
But I had the remote and there was nothing they could do about it.
I could hear their sighings and murmurings, but I gave a blind ear...
I didn't want to see what they were saying...
why do you like watching NICKELODEON?
Someone finally got the boldness to ask.
it's a channel for kids, are you a kid?
I looked at my friend who was sitting a few meters across from my seat.
He had rushed in to watch the championship final on our DSTV decoder.
Only to come in as I was taking my seat to watch THE THUNDERMANS... A family-based TV comedy series on NICKELODEON.
I would not see any of the championship matches... I am not a football fan, and I don't think I will ever be.
I am weird and exasperating?
Yes I know, you won't be the first person to tell me that.
How old are you?
I am 26yrs old.
Grow up, would you?
No, if growing up means no NICKELODEON, then I want to be a child for as long as I live.
Say what you want, I am a big fan of NICKELODEON.

And I think the reason I love NICKELODEON is that I never got to play well as a child.
I mean all the games and play that children should do, for me were restricted... kinda.
When ii started playing football like my colleagues in school, I almost lost my right toe...
Since then, I vowed never to play football.
As a child, I never had any toys, I didn't have the things children my age had...
maybe that's why the child in me is still seeking expression in everything.
In understanding every concept, i like to understand it the way a child would.
it has to be made simple, explained to me like I am 5.
And yes, I can be very annoying...
I am very troublesome, in a childish kinda way.
I believe that no matter how old we grow and how sophisticated things, get, having a childlike attitude in a lot of cases saves one from depression.
But then, maybe being a child just comes naturally to me.
You should see me when I am watching SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS or HENRY DANGER... I am totally enthralled.
I have received a lot of criticism about watching NICKELODEON, about not doing what every adult my age is doing...
But I figured, If I am not a danger to anyone, and I am valuable to myself and everyone around me... then whatever you say doesn't matter... I will still watch NICKELODEON
