Ahhrrrrrrrg, I mean, hello people, I guess I've spent so much time inactive that I almost forgot how to write like a human 😆, I have few excuses for this long period of inactivity, so I'll be brief, I had a creative block, a very bad one, however, you're not here to talk about me, you are here for me to show you my latest work.

For this drawing I was using a new approach, a more narrative one, now I didn't just want to make a character with a simple or improvised background, I didn't want people's only impression when they saw the drawing to be "that's cool" and then move on to the next one, I wanted them to say "that's interesting, I want to know more".

So, in this hard period of blocking I made a long journey of inspiration, one of my destinations was the Anumün grassland of the Splinterlands world, where, on a full moon night in the nearby forest I witnessed something incredible, the scene was so impressive that I had no words to describe it, but I had the ability to draw it, today I bring you...

Ahhrrrrrg, digo, hola gente, supongo que he pasado tanto tiempo inactiva que casi olvido como escribir como un ser humano 😆, tengo pocas excusas para este largo periodo de inactividad, por eso seré breve, tuve un bloqueo creativo, uno muy malo, sin embargo, no están aquí para hablar de mí, sino para que les presente mi última obra.

Para este dibujo estuve usando un nuevo enfoque, uno más narrativo, ahora no solo quería hacer un personaje con un fondo simple o improvisado, no quería que la unica impresion de la gente que viera el dibujo fuera "esta genial" y luego pasaran al siguiente, quería que dijeran "es interesante quiero conocer más".

Por lo tanto, en esta dura epata de bloqueo hice un largo viaje de inspiración, uno de mis destinos fue el pastizal de Anumün del mundo de Splinterlands, donde, en una noche de luna llena en el bosque cercano fuí testigo de algo increible, la escena fue tan impresionante que no tuve palabras para describirla, pero si la habilidad para dibujarla, hoy les traigo...

The Rise of Undead Rexx

As usual, I started with a sketch, but, contrary to normal I didn't stop at the main character, as I mentioned before I wanted this drawing to tell a story, so, the background and the other elements I couldn't leave to chance.

For that, I made a very vague sketch of the background forest and another even more vague sketch of the missionaries of the Eternal Darkness, I know, the diehard Lore fans will hang me because only one missionary is the one who raises Rexxie, but, putting one in front of the other puts them in equal condition and I wanted to emphasize that the main character is Rexxie, so yes, missionaries.

Como es usual, empecé con un boceto, pero, al contrario de lo normal no me detuve en el personaje principal, como mencioné antes quería que este dibujo contara una historia, entonces, el fondo y los otros elementos no los podía dejar al azar.

Para eso, hice un boceto muy vago del bosque de fondo y otro boceto aun más vago de los misioneros de la Oscuridad Eterna, lo sé, los fanáticos acérrimos del Lore me colgaran porque solo un misionero es quien levanta a Rexxie, pero, poner uno frente a otro los pone en igualdad de condición y quería entfatizar que el protagonista es Rexxie, así que si, misioneros.

With Rexxie sketched I went for the second most important element of the piece, the missionaries, as you can see, originally I planned for them to be small and surround the dino while raising him from the dead, but I decided to give them a more interesting design.

However, now I had a problem, they were too big and covered the dino, taking away his prominence, I solved it by changing their disposition and that of the background, finally, I made a cleaner sketch, and changed the position, and size to make it fit better.

Con Rexxie diseñado fui por el segundo elemento más importante de la obra, los misioneros, como pueden ver, originalmente planeaba que fueran chiquitos y rodearan al dino mientras lo levantaban de entre los muertos, pero decidí darles un diseño más interesante.

Sin embargo, ahora tenía un problema, eran muy grandes y tapaban al dino quitándole protagonismo, lo resolví cambiando su disposición y la del fondo, finalmente, hice un boceto más limpio, y cambié la posición y tamaño para que encajara mejor.

For the next part, Rexxie and the missionaries were in the way, so I hid them while I made radical changes to the background.

I enlarged the background because it caused me claustrophobia, I made bushes that I shamelessly copied, pasted, and modified to distribute them in that enlarged space, I detailed the disturbed earth and nearby trees, I darkened the distant ones, I added relief to the ground, then, I moved a little the position of the disturbed earth and eliminated the idea of the circle of fire, I already had too many elements in the drawing.

Para la siguiente parte, el dino y los misioneros estorbaban, por lo tanto, los oculté mientras hice cambios radicales al fondo.

Agrandé el fondo porque me causaba claustrofobia, hice arbustos que descaradamente copié, pegué y modifiqué para repartirlos en ese espacio ampliado, detallé más la tierra removida y los árboles cercanos, oscurecí los lejanos, le agregué relieve al suelo de pasto, moví un poco la posicion la tierra removida y eliminé la idea del círculo de fuego, ya tenía demasiados elementos en el dibujo.

To finish the background, I returned to the characters to make shadows of the ground cast by each one and added a thick tall grass.

At this point the background was fine, but, we're raising a dinosaur from the dead, that can't be done in daylight, so, "Let there be night."

Para finalizar con el fondo, regresé a los personajes para hacer las sombras del suelo que proyectaba cada uno y agregué una espesa grama alta.

En este punto el fondo estaba bien, pero, estamos levantando a un dinosaurio de entre los muertos, eso no se puede hacer a la luz del día, así que, "Hágase la noche"

This was my favorite part, with the hard work done only the details remained, like a beautiful starry sky, the light of a full moon that we cannot see over the solemn participants of this ritual, the magical aura of the missionaries strengthening the undead dinosaur, and the residual energy of a strengthened Rexxie that will bring ruin to its enemies.

Esta parte fue la más divertida, con todo el trabajo duro hecho solo quedaban los detalles, como un hermoso cielo estrellado, la luz de una luna llena que no podemos ver sobre los solemnes participantes de este ritual, el aura mágica de los misioneros fortaleciendo al dinosaurio no muerto para que se levante con sus propias patas, y la energía residual de un cada vez más fortalecido Rexxie que traerá ruina a sus enemigos.

The idea of making this card was not recent, Undead Rexx was one of the first cards I received from the quests chests, and from the first moment I loved its design, however, I went through at least three different concepts before arriving at this one.

At first, I wanted to show him as his counterpart Rexxie, then I wanted to be more faithful to the lore, but it was disappointing to realize that this cool design was used as a glorified workhorse, even so, I decided to respect his story, however, I didn't manage to make any interesting sketch.

Finally, in the middle of this scarcity of ideas, I started to make many loose sketches, among them a dinosaur that the more details I made, the more it fit with a certain card I always wanted to draw and in another part of the lore that at the time I didn't think of making its return to life.

La idea de hacer esta carta no era reciente, Undead Rexx fue una de las primeras carta que recibí de los cofres, y desde el primer momento su diseño me encantó, sin embargo, pasé por al menos tres conceptos distintos antes de llegar a este.

Al principio, quería mostrarlo como su contraparte Rexxie, después quise ser más fiel al lore, pero fue decepcionante darme cuenta que este diseño tan genial era usado como un caballo de carga glorificado, aun así, decidí respetar su historia, sin embarg, no logré hacer ningún boceto interesante.

Finalmente, en medio de esta escasez de ideas me puse a hacer muchos bocetos sueltos, entre ellos un dinosaurio que mientras más detalles le hacía encajaba con cierta carta que siempre quise dibujar y en otra parte del lore que en su momento no pensé en retratar, su reanimación.
