dougj34 here, that is probably the only name you will ever know me by. I said "probably" because things change, I am changing too. Been around for 66 years, waking up for over a decade and I like it. Waking up is not as easy as just opening my eyes. Got to take a minute to stretch, experience the moment, take a couple deep breaths, and move on to the next. Too often I am slow to move on regardless that the next moment comes whether I am ready for it or not. Back in 2001 I was tired, thought about dying far more often than living, seriously considered my options, and ultimately chose to step through an open door. There were paths leading in many directions, I chose the path that felt the gentlest and I am please with its offerings. I have no doubt that any path would have been "the right choice" as the open door called softly, not in a whisper rather in calm. In a few days I found myself in a cabin on the edge of the Cuyahoga National Recreation Area just south of Cleveland, OH. during the cold of late March. I was by myself but knew I was not alone, just by myself. I was surrounded by a large grassy field, trees, and a one acre fish pond. Three days and two nights later I was bored, felt abandoned, and was ready to give up any hope of recovery from whatever it was I needed to recover from. Late in the evening of the third day I decided to sleep one more night and bug out the following morning. I stripped, climbed into bed, and fell asleep quickly. I awoke to dark quiet, could have been midnight or 4AM, I do not know. What I did know is that I was not by myself. I peaked through my doorway to look in a kitchen 10-12 feet away to see the profile of a figure standing behind a counter. Although this sight was a bit unnerving, I knew I was not dreaming, I decided to get out of bed and check it out. I stood in the doorway naked and wordless for several uncomfortable moments. An oil lamp I had left burning low made it possible for me to see a Red Man who at some point turned to face me. No words were spoken, all discomfort vanished, time was not. I remember "something" happening, an exchange of sorts, presence and solitude. Then there was nothing but me standing in my doorway naked and alone. I cannot remember even thinking about this experience, I got back in bed and fell asleep. I woke again at first light, took a drink of water, sat in an overstuffed chair, and picked up a pad and pencil to write:
Come Out
Come out, come out
you stay so deep inside
Come out, come play with me
there is no more need to hide
Let's walk in the fields
of grass, and flowers, and butterflies
We'll touch the water of the pond
cause ripples in the calm
excite the fishes, watch them play
see the sun glisten on the water
Come out, come out
Come out to play
Found another way to play today
when I touched the water of the pond
with the sole of my feet
It became so clear
I could hear
I could see
Even the fishes had things to teach me
Even the fishes had things for me to see
All of what I lived within changed
When I touched the water of the pond
of the fishes
with the feet of my soul
Over the following months I could not stop writing poems, had 150 or so published in 2004-5 and have done nothing with those works or other writes since, until now. I found this platform a few days ago and decided to share these writes with you, I hope you find and enjoy some of them. Keep in mind at all times they come through me, not from me, the Electric Universe is the source of all. Best.
