Ever had days when you feel "could this day get any worse" ?
You're not alone
It was a dreadfully hot day, I woke up late in a pool of sweat (seems I forgot to turn on the AC), my alarm had failed me yet again. I was going to be late for morning classes and breakfast was a luxury I couldn't afford. I hurriedly took my bath and in an instance the thought struck me "I forgot to get my clothes at the wash house yesterday"(oh dear!). I silently muttered cuss words as I had to spend an extra 5 minute getting myself ready. I dashed out of the house thinking "could this day get any worse"?.
You might wanna grab your favorite snacks, it only gets interesting from here
Well classes that morning went terribly, my motivation levels were down to nothing and I just couldn't focus on an empty stomach. boy! I was glad when it finally ended.
Anyway, I got over myself, bought some snacks and went to the park pretending to be studying. Really, I was just eating cheesecakes and drinking fruitshakes engulfed in nature. The picnic, the freedom. See! being an adult is sometimes perfectly fine.
The key to success in life is to always stay motivated, so today, I'll be sharing with you ways to constantly stay motivated.....it works for me, it might just work out for you too!
Firstly
1) I Always Reward Myself
Maybe this makes me seem like a child, I don't know but I love the feeling. I tell myself "if I can complete this today , I get to do.....(1 hr on the PS4 seems to do the trick haha!). I instantly get in the go mode and try to make those minutes count, this can be a material reward or personal gain or probably getting to eat that pizza you crave so much. You never know how much of a motivation attaching a reward to a task could turn out to be.
2) Avoid Procrastinating, develop the "just do it" attitude
.I know right? Easier said than done. Amazingly Half my entire shirt collection scream "Just do it". It's almost weird but each time I promise myself "I'll do it later" im surrounded by reasons to do so now
Well we all are victims here, sometimes I wish I could just be programmed to complete a particular task. I find myself procrastinating most of the time.
I remember when I had to study for calculus tests(the thought of it alone bores me). Books clutched in hands, heads bent, scribbling, cancelling, punching numbers on the calculator "heck no! I'm heading over to John's" I said. I convinced myself I was going to study overnight. Well... I didn't, guess i was too tired when i came back. I felt all gross, that annoying empty feeling you get after Procrastinating.
3) Create a Vision board
It sounds silly but it works. When you physically put together what you want your life to be, what you want to achieve, be it long term or not, in a diary or a vision board. you're able to visualize your goals and In turn it's a great motivator. Crossing one off the list today gives me that feeling of satisfaction and further increases my drive as I aim to cross another off the list tomorrow.
As a child my mum always made me write whatever I wanted to achieve for the day a night before and paste it on the walls so it's the first thing I wake up to every day. It became an habit and it's very effective.
And lastly!
4) Breathe, take a walk
Wow, nicely written. Take a breath. Okay, I know, but hear me out.
Always catch your breathe, understand you can't control everything. I mostly find myself at the park, the sight of nature is just so perfect and really helps get my motivation up. Anytime I get bored, feel stressed or under motivated an hour with nature seems to do the trick.
You could take a walk, leave the house cmon, connect with nature. It works like magic.
Feeling motivated already?
