Some toy companies fear that there might be a toy shortage this holiday season because of COVID-19 and the impact that it has had on the industry. Some of the most in-demand toys on the market right now are nowhere to be found on the shelves and that is a result of a slowdown with the overall shipping efficiency on the Coast this year.
Orders from Hasbro and others have been stuck in a sort of limbo this year, as shipping services have experienced shutdowns and delays. There are already anticipated delays for popular Mandalorian toys that were expected to be on the shelves before Christmas.
A variety of toy factories had to close earlier this year and send employees to work from home, this is already having an impact on the market. Some toy shops, like Build-A-Bear Workshop had to furlough at least 90 percent of their workers and close all stores indefinitely. Mattel, Rubie's, and others, all did the same this year.
