It's too early officials say to know whether or not the extreme spicy chip challenge might have contributed to a 14 year old's death but stories are already circulating with warnings about the One Chip Challenge social media trend.
Doctors have alleged that ingesting the ingredients might cause issues and serious side effects for some people.
You can find a wide range of videos that have documented people eating these spicy chips, sometimes several chips at a time, along with other spicy products on the market.
Despite the hype there are 'experts' who have been warning for years about the #OneChipChallenge with stories detailing that several individuals have allegedly ended up in the hospital after ingesting one spicy product or another. Even with those stories though it hasn't seemed to slow down the popularity of this sort of challenge. In response to its growing prevalence there are even some schools that have previously banned the products after some people allegedly had negative experiences with consuming them. The chip isn't cheap either and it might be surprising that so many are willing to spend that much on just one chip. Social media has played a huge role in the overall marketing of the products.
