REAL
Look in the mirror
don’t close your eyes
see what is so obvious
to all others
you are special
even more so because
you don’t think you are.
Your age can be doubled
tripled
and still not reflect
what you have to offer
your family
your friends
anyone who is fortunate enough to be blessed
with your presence – even for just a moment.
You are the missing piece of everyone’s puzzle
the piece needed to feel complete
to feel worthy
to feel special.
This is what you bring people
the greatest tragedy is not allowing
yourself the privilege of
realizing that this is true.
You are the first star people see
when they look to the sky at night
the one mature enough to shine alone
without the aid of others
who deserves more than
anyone else
to be loved.
The brightest star because of
your gift, your talent and your caring.
Your caring is something rare
to care for others as much as you do
illustrates how strong you are
you will be justly rewarded with
success
happiness
and love.
But for you, helping others is
reward in itself.
Look in the mirror
open your eyes
for yourself
no one else
see that you are worthy of
love
respect
and admiration
because you are real.
