My mother passed away yesterday. She was 94. All things considered, she enjoyed an incredible time in history. Born in 1924, she experienced a roller-coaster ride.
Today was filled with the business and paperwork of death. Even in death, it is a struggle to satisfy her final wishes.
The most significant issue is caring for her second husband. He is also 94. He however is financially unable to pay for his care. I must try to help. He and I have never bonded. He loved my mom. My desire to care for him is due to her decision to marry at age 88.
We only live once. I am happy they enjoyed the past six years. I however have learned from their example. I do not wish to burden my children with an additional mouth to feed. They have a right to enjoy their life.
Concern for the happiness of others flies contrary to personal needs. Soon your world can become circular... unless you break the pattern and live for others. My mother was only thinking of her personal desires in the end.
I am resolved to sacrifice my desires for the benefit of my children.
Here is today’s beauty.
