LIFE LESSONS YOU LEARN AS YOU GET OLDER

Life is transformational. It begins with the toddler stage, childhood, teenage years, adulthood, and the advanced stage.
Each stage has its own growth and development as well as life lessons. The lessons increase as responsibilities increase and as one moves from one stage of development to another.

Life has taught me various lessons, and I will be sharing a few of them learnt through growth, mistakes, and in the search for my true self, painted from experiences over the years.
Growing up, I didn't like delegating duties; I preferred doing things myself so they would be done to my standards. However, most of the time, I wasted time and energy on activities. As my knowledge, experience, and age have advanced, that has changed; Life has taught me to stress less. I now delegate duties and supervise effectively to a satisfactory standard.
Again, early in my career, as a very young individual, I was a workaholic; I worked at the office and carried the remaining work home back-to-back to the detriment of my health and family. Today, Age has taught me to set boundaries. I now have time to work and other times to relax with my family and friends. I take good care of my health, eat, drink, and sleep well to enjoy my health and family.
Furthermore, I was impulsive with little or no regard for budgeting and savings. But as I advance in life, meet with people, and read books, that notion has changed; Life has taught me to live a better-planned life. I now follow a strict monthly budget and manage my finances, taking into consideration every income I earn and ensuring that I consistently save a percentage to secure my future and retirement plan. I used to rush decisions, but something happened recently that changed the narrative.
During a recruitment, the candidate I thought was a great fit for an open role I was filling didn’t meet up. I tried to bridge the process because I felt his qualifications were a great fit. But when I slept on it, my conscience and heart spoke to me; I gave up my plan and allowed the process to flow uninterrupted; that's when I discovered the candidate used AI to generate a curriculum vitae that was impossible to defend.
In that situation, life taught me to take time before making conclusions about things because I judged people based on first impressions. Right now, I take my time and give situations a second thought before I make conclusions.

Life lessons can be good, bad, or ugly, but the most important thing is that we are not stagnant; we are improving and becoming a better version of ourselves as we advance in age and knowledge.
