Hi there. A quick post here. As a part of a Toronto day trip, I have a quick lunch at T & T Supermarket in downtown Toronto.
T & T Supermarket is a Canadian Asian supermarket with many locations across Canada. It is owned by Loblaws but this Asian supermarket chain operates independently to the other Western style supermarkets operated by Loblaws.
T & T Supermarket offers mostly Chinese food products with some beauty products, kitchenware. There are some Korean, Japanese, Filipino, Taiwanese, Hong Kong items too.
The name T & T is named after the daughters of the previous owner Cindy Lee. Tiffany and Tina are the daughters with Tina Lee being the current CEO.
This supermarket has expanded to the United States. Two locations in Seattle and a recent one in San Jose, California. If you watch some grand opening videos, there are people willing to wait 2 hours to get in. This is too much lol.
One of the best parts of T & T Supermarket is the self-serve hot food section. For North America, this is new but this is not rare in Asia.
I did not want to stuff myself for lunch. Portion control was a priority for me here. I got:
My favourite items from here were the Basa Fillet Fish and the Black Pepper Pork. The fish pieces were soft and tender. With the pork, the slices were thick but still chewy. Some may find the amount of black pepper to be too much.
After taxes, this meal was just under 10 CAD. A lot of lunch options are in the 10 to 20 CAD range. Finding something just under 10 CAD is possible.
Thank you for reading.
