Bitcoin Prize Pool In Thunderpick Online CS:GO Tournament

Counter Strike - Global:Offensive is a first person shooting video game that can be played as a single player game or online multi-player.
This tournament is run by the betting website Thunderpick. It is an online CS:GO tournament from January 17 to March 7.
Betting website Thunderpick has announced the Thunderpick Bitcoin Series, an online CS:GO tournament taking place between January 17 and March 7. The event will have a prize pool of 1.2 Bitcoin, but due to the volatility of the crypto-currency, the organizers have guaranteed a minimum of $75,000 for the top eight placed teams.
The tournament has been organized in cooperation with UCC, an established Russian event organizer. The format will see the nearly two months long event split between three distinct stages.
Teams
As this tournament does not have a big prize pool compared to the larger tournaments that could have prize pools of 250K USD or more, the teams are not highly ranked. The highest ranked teams are Russian based forZe at rank 21, BLINk at rank 23, Sprout at rank 25, French based DBL PONEY at rank 26 and Bulgarian team SKADE at rank 27.

My Thoughts
I do like how there is a tournament which features a crypto prize pool. It is also good that it is a smaller tournament trying this out. A large tournament having a big prize pool in crypto would be risky for the organizers, players, teams because of crypto price volatility.
This tournament is quite long for such a small prize pool compared to the larger tournaments. Higher ranked teams would not want to spend much time in this type of tournament when they could compete for larger prizes.
There is a mention in the article that the organizers have guaranteed a minimum of $75 000 for the top eight placed teams due to the volatility of Bitcoin. I do assume that this $75000 would be granted to the top 8 teams in the form of cash. If volatility is a concern, maybe stablecoins such as Tether, USDC or UST instead of BTC would be better.
One thing that we would have to see is if prizes would be sent out to the players. There have been a couple of tournaments in the past for Counter Strike where prize winnings have not been sent out.
