There will be dawn.
There will be dawn.
Sit, and fold your arms,
Suck your lips, stare at nothingness.
Right after the folds of black sky tighten;
And the long shapes in distant sights
Fall deeper into obscuring shadow;
And hordes after hordes of darkness released rests upons us,
Then dawn shall be.
There will be dawn.
Behind this night and before it.
I hear its slow footsteps,
Its luminary approach, in caution and colour..
Have you roused, sleepy sun?
Rouse and play, dirty yourself,
Then bathe us in warmth of golden radiance;
Rouse; our morning awaits...
There will be dawn.
Today.
Tomorrow.
Dawn will come
Like hope in the eyes of despair -
Like life in the muck of death.
It will flash its candid light
And glow beyond the scurrilous gossip
Of the gloom.
Lift up your eyes;
Do not search; merely look at heaven.
Have you seen it yet?
Dawn behind the clouds.
The fire awoken;
The beams riled from slumber to make light of the heaviness;
Have you seen?
There, on the east
Splashing the incandescence of a hero's passion,
Have you seen?
There - the clouds part for it.
It forces cracks in between their tight locks.
They will disperse soon
Like fog upon the suffusing of sun.
They will scatter
When the forerunners, the golden horns
Stretched from below the folds
Bellow to the ears of the earth;
Alas! They shall say!
Awake! For he is here! The dawn!
You, golden sceptre of light and beauty,
Welcome; we knew you would come.
Our hearts waited upon you.
You are dawn;
The stellar preacher of the sermon of promise.
The quiet traverser through the lands of many darkness.
The torchbearer and the torch..
Hailing you, Oh dawn,
Are the spires of the mountains,
Risen up and out of earth to meet you,
Hands stretched in supplication;
And these rocks of habitation that now pierce the sky;
And these boles of wood, wearing crowns of green.
They bring the despairs of us,
Crude and dwarf men.
Blaze forth dawn.
We cannot ask of you to remain here.
Go.
Go.
Let the others too see the king of the sky who without wings wills flight;
The one whose worship the birds gather to sing.
Go.
Pass from here today like yesterday.
But come back again dawn;
Do not forget us,
People of dawn.
