Back with an old favourite this week the Dartmoor Brewery Legend, a classic bitter at 4.4%ABV it’s not a bad session beer with a couple at BBQ or great with steak and chips if you like traditional bitters.
Tonight’s beer went down very well with a slow cooked Spaghetti Bolognese.
A classic bitter it’s smooth, full-flavoured with a balanced nice malty finish. Legend is a beer with a golden amber colour and the smell of fresh baked bread and a hint of spice. The Dartmoor brewery have been making it since 2010, so not as long as some of the traditional strong Kentish ales but this modern day beer is the very best of traditional brewing.
Brewed not far away from me about with about a 30 minute drive to Princetown it’s a few hundred metres from famous prison on Dartmoor it must be torture for the prisoners when wind is in the wrong direction. Blowing all those lovely beery brewing smells to a place you can’t drink.
It pours well from the bottle and is not too gassy it’s just as nice draft if you find a pub that stocks it which some of our locals do, and holds it’s head well but to be honest it doesn’t hang around for too long once I’ve poured it.
So there you go Hivers and as I always say you are what you drink. Well today I’m happy to be a legend even if it is just in the glass I’m holding.
