Hello, readers! Ale here again with a new review, this time of Agatha Christie's book Appointment with Death. I've wanted to read something by her for a long time, and now the time has finally come. I started this book last year, but due to travel and time constraints, I didn't finish it until this year. Now I'm here to tell you a little about this book and my opinion of it.

The book basically tells the story of a family that is led, or one could even say enslaved, by Mrs. Boynton, an old woman with an air of authority who, despite her age and illnesses, continues to dominate the minds of all her stepchildren. who are now adults. From the beginning, we can see that this woman's children do not think very highly of her, some more than others, and believe that life would be better if she were not around... Will they be able to truly get rid of her so they can finally live freely?

SPOILERS: I really expected a little more from this book. I didn't know that Poirot is a character already familiar to readers and that this story is just another one of his cases to solve, but I feel that even if I had been aware of that, I would still have found the story a little weak. At first, I was really excited about the plot. I thought I was going to discover the horrible ways in which this woman controlled all her stepchildren, as they spoke very badly of her, but in the end... we don't really know much more than that the woman is bossy and withheld their money. As soon as the detective appears, I feel like he starts repeating the same thing over and over again. I understand that he is analyzing the situation, but it made me a little dizzy that he kept changing his hypothesis about who was responsible for the death. I also felt that the culprit came out of nowhere. It gave it an element of surprise, but I also feel that it was a little absurd.

I would like to read another of her books. If there is one you like by this author, let me know, because according to other reviews and opinions I have read, it seems I am not the only one who thinks she must have better works. The good thing is that the book is less than 150 pages long and reads quite quickly.
