My last visit to China took me to many different areas. One of the places we went to was the province of Yunnan. We were staying in Lijiang, and did daytrips from there. One of these daytrips took us to the Blue Moon Valley and the Jade Dragon Snow Mt.

Our destination and main goal was the the top of Jade Dragon Mt. We took the cable car to an altitude at 4.500 m. From here we were supposed to walk to the top. We hadn't been waiting for more than a few minutes before the top wasn't visible any more. It wouldn't be safe to try to reach the top. So we chose to go down and instead spend time by the lake. Unfortunatly this daytrip was a rainy experience. It wasn't heavy rain, but enough to wear raincoats.

This lake is located in the foothills of Jade Dragon Snow Mt. This area consists of several turquise lakes surrounded by beautiful landscape with lots of small waterfalls. The altitude is actually 2.800 m. It was nessesary to keopp a slow pace. The Blue Moon Lake offers spectacular scenery. Imagine what it would look like on a sunny day....Even it was a rainy day, there were quite a lot of people visiting. Not only people who walked for pleasure. There were several photo sessions with newly wedded couples who were there to take wedding photos. The landscape makes a great background for these couples. We saw more than one couple. I quess the place is popular for wedding photos.
