"Two pounds? You've lost two pounds in the last seven days? I can poop a pound in one sitting!"
I weighed myself Saturday after a week of porridge for breakfast and Huel Powder for lunch plus evening meal (Which wasn't 2 Million calories before some smart Alec pipes up.) and I weighed 2297lbs! For the love of the Pond Gods! I weighed 231lbs last week! Two measly pounds? Don't get me wrong, I wasn't expecting to have lost half a stone but I was expecting close to 5lbs. True, apart from walking I'm not sitting on a bench in the gym messing on my mobile phone or throwing myself about on the floor at home doing star jumps but two pounds, that's depressing.
I've just splashed out a further £60 on another Huel product Hot & Savoury. As before, it's a plant-based meal which, according to the blurb, will give you all the nutrients and minerals you need. From the pictures, it looks like a nice full bowl of food and I'd already had a look on the web and worked out that it was basically a pot-noodle but without the noodles.
It comes with a mixing cup about the size of King size Pot-Noodle tub yet still requires two scoops, just like the powder. "Oh well, it must swell up as a pot-noodle does?" I thought. I'd bought the Thai Green Curry, Mexican Chili and Madras, which interestingly is one of my complaints with Huel. You have to buy three bags of the Hot & Savoury, and two bags of the Powdered Food now I get that those quantities are designed to give you a months supply, twenty-one meals for the Hot & Savoury thirty-four for the powdered food but for someone new to their products like myself you would have thought they would allow purchases of one bag to see if you liked it or not?Friday night, I made up the Thai Green Curry for my dinner, although simply to confuse Americans, we Brits often call it tea time. I dutifully poured two scoops into the mixing pot, added the boiling water and stirred it. After five minutes, there was a paste within the pot that sadly looked nothing like this!
On the plus side, it smelt nice and tasted far better than I would have expected, given the look and consistency of it. But and it's a big "but" while one serving is 400 Calories (Just like the powder), it didn't fill me up as the powder does in fact, I made up a second batch which pushed me to 800 calories and yet I was still a bit hungry!
I've not tried the Mexican Chili or the Madras yet but for the minute I'm not keen on buying another three bags however I will be buying the powder again, Mint Chocolate this time I think.
