While trawling through Steemit for something to upvote I came across a post titled: A VERY UNHAPPY ACCOUNT ON HIVE. Now before I go any further, I don't speak German and reading posts from members where English is their second language can be both difficult and sometimes emphasis can be lost in translation.
In a nutshell user @nesomi runs or is associated with what appears to be a charity. They claim they have demonstrated the validity of the organisation and so because I'm far too lazy to investigate I'm willing to take them at their word. From what I can tell, this all started over a Downvote? Most of us have had them, they smart a bit on one's pride but fortunately, in most cases, they're not that dangerous. Sadly, in this case, it would seem @Pfunk a Witness is one, and I stress one of the individuals who downvoted the account. Pfunk currently holds a lot of influence on Hive and has been voted by members to be a Witness for the community:
| Hive Tokens (HIVE) | 1,097.159 HIVE |
| Hive Backed Dollars (HBD) | 43.555 HBD |
| Estimated Account Value | $ 27,499.66 |
If you read nesomi's complaint I think there's a misunderstanding in the translation? I'm fairly confident they understand that votes are not donations I think they mean they intend to use rewards from their account towards the charity, which, if that's the case, is a laudable activity however from what I can ascertain in the initial instance Pfunk downvoted the account and continued to downvote the account simply because the chairman of the charity has a Steemit (Steem) account and openly supports Steemit I draw that conclusion from Pfunk's own words. Amazingly pfunk feels that because (IMV Supposedly) Steemit.inc stole from users accounts including their own account that that justifies what is clearly an abuse of power by vindictively downvoting an individual(s) who support or have accounts on Steemit!
The two are totally unconnected as far as I'm concerned.
Sadly, nesomi decided to fight back by spamming accounts an activity guaranteed to get peoples backs up! I understand why they did it, they obviously felt in a totally unequal battle but in my book Two wrongs don't make a right! plus it doesn't help their case either especially when they're looking for supporters when in reality they're actually creating more enemies.
I've probably pinned a target to my back over this post however I'm not on anyone's side. I think both parties have behaved badly although I will say a Witness has a responsibility to behave better than the rest of us and really shouldn't let personal feelings influence how they treat community members.
If I was the arbiter in this conflict I'd suggest @nesomi posted an apology to all those they spammed and that
@pfunk gives nesomi a decent vote and that should be an end to it although I will add my personal gripe in that there is no 'body' one can speak with in an effort to resolve disputes or complaints. Hive and Steemit is pretty tribal in that respect if you ask me.
