Crypto is brutal, and at a time when people are losing hope in the market, the Hive community continue to demonstrate a strong commitment to building sustainable value through innovations and community engagement that set it apart from many other Blockchain platforms.
At a time when uncertainty is at an all time high, Hive platform remains a beacon of stability and opportunity for creators and investors who still believe in the potential of Web 3 for content creation and decentralized communities. A lot of of people have been discouraged by the volatility of the crypto market in recent times and the collapse of several Web 3 social platforms, but Hive has proven to be a reliable platform that is still attracting new users despite the condition of the time in respect to the broader crypto market.
Over the past few weeks, a lot of people have approached me asking how they can get started on Hive and how the platform works. Actually, I made a comment somewhere on a Facebook post talking about Hive and a lot people reached out wanting to know more about it. As it has always been, getting started on Hive has never been a straight forward thing that someone can do in their own without guidance from experience users. And even at that, most people still had a hard time with account creation process.
Given that, I took upon myself to help a few people get in on Hive through a thorough onboarding process that involves teaching the basics of how the platform works, and rules to follow to ensure they have a positive experience on the platform. One thing that I found not too encouraging was the entry barrier in creating a new account. Hive is a decentralized platform that has been always promoted as a free platform for everyone, but it seems that the case anymore.
There is no free access on almost all of the front ends for Hive, and the few that still allowed free account creation only creates account that are incomplete and requires additional steps that are not explained to new users, making the whole process a waste of time.
Nevertheless, I found a less stressful way to onboard new users with the Hive keychain option that requires a payment of 3 HIVE to create a new account, which is more affordable compared to what other apps offers. Through Hive keychain apps, I was able to seamlessly help about 3 new users get started on the platform.
It was the most easy way to onboard new users who has no knowledge about crypto or Blockchain technology. I bought a few HIVE on Binance and transfered them to my account so I could sponsor their accounts and teach them how to change their password and get a new set of keys to secure their accounts on the platform.
Creating the accounts was only the first step of the onboarding process, as I then had to teach them how to navigate the platform, set up their profile, join communities, use the short content feature and understand voting and rewarding mechanism on the platform.
Though the process was time consuming and required patience, I feel delighted to see new members begin their journey with confidence on a Blockchain platform such an Hive. I know that earning rewards is what drives the motivation of most new users, hence I didn't fail to let them know that originality and commitment are the keys to success on the platform.
At this point, I feel like I have just given birth to three new kids who I must keep a watchful eye on as they strive to find their place on the platform. I hope they continue to grow and contribute meaningfully to the Hive platform.
