Wife: "Hey Bubb, strangest thing. I woke up, and my straighteners were bleeping. Now I know I leave them plugged in, so I was worried they had been on all day and all night, but they were not hot and yet they were bleeping?"
This was interesting because on two occasions over the last couple of weeks, I've gone to use my computer at home, and it was still booted up? I ALWAYS shut it down when I've finished, but I was willing to accept that maybe I had forgotten; however, with the wife's revelation, I was beginning to have my doubts.
Me: "Maybe we have a poltergeist?"
The one end of the sofa in the corner of the front room is always really cold; I'm forever playing the wife up by telling her it is cold because someone was murdered there. There hasn't been a murder in our house, by the way, and we're not about to hear a voice croaking "Your mother sleeps in hell!" either. Given we've lived in it for nearly thirty years, I'm sure one of us, including my twin daughters when they lived at home, would have commented on it before now.
I don't believe in any Gods
I don't believe in the so-called Christian god or any god for that matter. I don't believe in ghosts, reincarnations or spirit voices from the other side. But for me, it goes deeper than that. I don't believe in magic or even luck. I always found "Lucky rabbit foot" hysterical; it certainly wasn't very lucky for the poor rabbit! I have no time for superstitions, either. "OMG! You broke a mirror; that's seven years of bad luck!" The way I see it, how can I believe in ghosts or superstitions? Because if I did, then I've really no basis for denying the existence of a god; it is, after all, the same thing, belief.
I've always wondered why Christians, for example, have never used that argument with atheists "OK, how come if you do not believe in a spiritual force, I saw you cross your fingers while filling out your lottery slip?" mind you, I would use the Ricky Gervais reverse argument towards believers "Oh, so you believe in god, do you and you believe he's responsible for everything? So you believe he gave babies in Africa AIDS, then?"
I do believe there must be other life forms out there, though. It's just ridiculous to think we are the only ones.
