Blessings, friends and colleagues. What a lovely morning to see a new drawing, right? And it gets even better if you have a coffee while you look at it. That's a great way to start the day! Well, today's drawing, as always, was inspired by one of the beautiful cards in the game. I chose a violin, the E228 Mahogany Viola. As you can see, it's a classic one. Unlike the last one I painted, this one is acoustic, not electric. That's why you can see it's thicker and has those air inlets on the front that are carved into the wood in the shape of musical notes.
This could be considered the classic violin design that we've all seen at some point. Before starting with the drawing, I'm going to leave a music video here, as usual. This one will be of a very beautiful song played on an acoustic violin, the same type as today's, so you can look at the drawing with more inspiration. But don't forget to return the drawing after watching the video, haha.
Okay, after that lovely video, we can start with the drawing. I began by drawing the inner frame of the card.
After drawing the frame, I drew the neck and then the undulating body of the violin. It's really taking shape, isn't it? You can already see that it's a musical instrument. This violin body is the classic one I've drawn before, so we're all familiar with it here, but I recently drew an electric violin, which was very different. If you haven't seen it yet, I encourage you to check it out.
In the next step, I added more details. For example, the decorative elements on the front, the extensions under the strings, the foot, and finally, and very importantly, the pegbox with its four pegs. Each peg corresponds to a string, which is why the violin has four strings. With that, the sketch was finished.
Time to paint! To begin, I drew the outer background in a light gray. I chose it because it's the predominant color of the original card. Then I drew the frame in a reddish-brown. I painted the inner background in various shades of blue, and finally the violin in brown and various shades of black.
All that was left was to add the strings, the fret in the center beneath them, and color the string extender. With that, the violin was finished.
