Good morning, dear friends and colleagues from this great game and its community. I’m happy to share a new drawing with you in today’s post. As is my custom, I’ve chosen one of the game’s beautiful cards—specifically, a musical instrument from the "Epic" collection: a flute called the "E123 Antique Flute." As you can see, this card depicts a classic, antique-style flute. It’s been quite a while since I last painted a flute, so it felt like the perfect subject for a piece of fan art—I’ve actually been wanting to paint one for some time! 😅 This particular flute stands out for its dark wood and its set of keys. I’ve included these details in my drawing; you’ve likely already caught a glimpse of the final result in the cover image. In this post, I’ll walk you through the entire process. To begin, I drew the card’s frame, which turned out like this:
Once that step was complete, I moved on to drawing the longest section of the flute—the part with the straight edge. At this stage, I hadn’t yet added details like the segments or the mouthpiece; those came later. I then drew the lower section of the flute, where the air exits.
With those two steps finished, all that remained was to add some finer details to make the flute look more attractive and realistic. For instance, I added the threaded-style mouthpiece, along with several divisions along the body of the instrument. It turned out quite nicely—I’m really happy with how the sketch came together.
Now, it was time to start painting. I began by filling the inner background with a light purple, and then colored the frame yellow—a combination that works quite well. Next, I filled the area inside the frame using various shades of blue. Finally, I painted the flute itself in a brown tone, accented with gold details. The holes and the keys were the last things I added to the drawing. What do you think? I’ve shown the entire process in the photos.
And to wrap things up for today, here is the final result. Thank you so much for checking out my drawing today—see you next time!
