One of the coolest things about living by the train tracks besides the graffiti is every once in a while we get to experience the phenomenon we affectionately call around here "planes on trains." I have been wanting to catch a photo of it for a while, for this blog, and just now on my walk, I did. This time there were only two planes, but sometimes its like a whole train of planes going by, and that is a fantastical sight to behold, like something out of an anime cartoon.
Another thing, is its finally sunny out for the second day in a row. Yesterday I took a 3 hour hike back into the woods, just me and my dog. I sat down near a creek , and no one else was around, and I laid on the rocky shore and just tried to let everything that is bothering me go ....and I really wish I could have sat there all day, but I had to work, like I do now, so back to the planes
I am feeling pretty depressed and weird the past few days, so i am trying to help myself by just walking. Tonight I walked for about an hour, in circles around my industrial neighborhood. I looked for birds. I saw a robin, a grackle, and a crow. I also saw some paragliders up by the hills at the edge of town, and that made me know its really true: Spring is finally here. Its been cloudy since ...oh... I want to say October. And before that we had the worst fire season maybe that we have ever had in this area in like decades. So it was all smokey and impossible to go outside for months, from like late July through October. I still don't like the smell of campfire thanks to that whole drama. So I looked up at the paragliders twirling around in the blue sky as the sun started to turn into that golden kind of light, and got really emotional and relieved and hopeful and I cried. Three months of smoke and red sun and burning lungs plus at least 6 months of grey winter.....it has just been a long time for us up here.
I didnt take a picture of the paragliders because you wouldnt be able to see them anyway. But I am so glad that the best most beautiful time to go outside has finally arrived.
xo,
