Years Ago I used to order this set... A Lontong Cap Go Meh and A Teh Poci.

Teh Poci means Tea in Tea Pot. The name is kind of silly if you are not an Indonesian or Malayan, however that's how we say this name. Basically if you serve a tea in teapot, it means the tea is a premium one. So the price will be different and you could expect a better taste than ordinary tea. But yeah, the name is kind of silly in other language

Lontong Cap Go Meh is not losing in term of silly naming. Lontong stands for rice cake, and Cap Go Meh means that fifteen days after Chinese New Year, when Chinese people hold Lantern Festival. Lontong Cap Go Meh originally comes from a rice cake that served during that lantern festival, then people start thinking to have it on regular based.

There is no fix recipe how Lontong Cap Go Meh must be served, or the original recipe one. Basically the dish must be plenty, if you serve it in Bowl, the bowl must be full because it repesents how much hope you pray for your fortune and wealth.

Beside the full and packed bowl, there are 3 symbolic items that you need to have in the dish

  1. You must have rice cake, a long cylinder shape cut in small, or you cut some long shape. it repesents a wish for long healthy life.
  2. You must have a braised egg, as a symbol of luck and prosperity.
  3. The last one is the soup, must be a reddish yellow or as close to a gold color. We use tumeric and coconut oil to get this color. A gold color, means rich lol

I used to order this dish frequently, one of my favorite... I just had this one last month, after years of not having it. It gave me a nostalgic feeling...
