Hello, friends especially foodies!
Last Monday i accompanied mom to the hospital to meet her opthalmologist and not far from there we then wanted to go to our favorite restaurant not far from there but unfortunately the restaurant was closed... oh no they always close on monday but we forgot it!
Luckily still in the same office building complex, there were other restaurants in the lottemart building. And fortunately there is a branch of our favorite noodle restaurant there.
At front you could see some of their menus on banners.
And also from the front you could see that this restaurant had a catchy color of turquoise, their brand authentic color. The restaurant had bright interior color of white, wood natural color furnish with the turquoise blush. Some customers were there. Like other branches, this place had a nice comfy place to dine in. Even the dining area was not large but we don't need to worry because even on lunch time we still could get our seats.
After got our seats, the waitress would nicely come to us. Give us their menu, then we order their menu on a separate paper. She told us after order we needed to pay first in the cashier before we could enjoy our lunch. Like their name, the speciality they had there were noodles.
For the food, they still have their authentic favorite noodle menus like yamien crispy chicken skin noodle, tomyum noodle, chicken fried noodle, seafood fried noodle, embe chilli paste black noodle, special matcha noodle, special complete noodle, special noodle, and crispy fish skin salted egg black noodle. Besides they also had flat noodle (kwetiau) and rice noodle (beehon), some of rice menus, kind of fried rice. Good that new menus they had were our country special menus like medan noodle, aceh noodle, javanese godog menu (served wet with a bit soup), roasted chicken kecombrang noodle, and others. Still they had some side dishes, great that our favorite side dish, spicy tofu was still there too.
Actually they also had some variants of drink which include fresh chillin' beverages like you could never find in any other restaurants like orange lady and snow white strawberry.
But that day we didn't choose any sweet drinks because mom reduced eating and drinking sweet.
After had ordered, time to pay, so i went to the cashier table. They gave 30% discount on the food, so i paid 88,100 IDR or around 6.14 USD for the lunch.
Not a long time after we had ordered the lunch, the food were all delivered to our table. Mom ordered one of authentic our country noodle, mie godog jawa (javanese boiled noodle). While me, i ordered special matcha noodle. We also ordered our favorite side dish, spicy tofu. Like usually i asked them to put the spicy seasoning separately. We also ordered two 330 ml bottles of mineral water.
Now the battle began, i would like to talk about each taste & flavour of the noodles, first from mine..
Special matcha noodle had sweet dominant flavour. The noodle made from green matcha ingredient. The noodle had curly dried soft texture. The toppings it had were sweet chicken and mushroom, crispy dumpling skins, plus green veggie. I had to add chilli sauce to bring spicy flavour to my noodle that day. What made me a bit dissapointed about my matcha noodle that day was because they made it less dried than it usually, it still had some water like soup on my bowl, which supposed not to be like that because for this kind of noodle which served with separated soup, supposed to be well dried.
Rich with spices, Javanese godog (javanese language for boiled) noodle had savory, spicy and a bit sweet flavour with lots of toppings like big shrimp, fresh fish ball, meatball and some fresh fried colorful chips. The shrimps were fresh and tasty. The sliced ishballs were also fresh crunch with sweet savory flavour. While the meatballs were just so so. The chips were also so damn great, never found any like that before, they were crispy, crunchy and fresh in savory flavour plus non greasy.
Between those two noodles i compared from some aspects, first the noodle texture, although the matcha noodle had chewy texture while the boiled noodle had little bit soup which brought the softer texture. For the texture i thought they were balance, both were okay because it actually depend on your taste.
But if i continue the battle to the second aspect, the taste, much different between them, the matcha only had sweet dominant flavour while mie godog jawa had rich taste and flavours like savory, spicy and a bit sweet. Next the other aspect was toppings. Although matcha noodle had some kind of toppings like chicken, mushroom, crispy skins and veggies but it was not as complete as javanese godog noodle which had shrimp, fishballs, meatballs, veggies and also fried chips. And also those more complete toppings had tastier flavour too than the matcha's toppings. The price between both was just different not more than even a USD so i think, from all the battle's aspects, javanese godog noodle was the winner.
Now after finish the battle, last but not least i would like to share the taste and flavour of our favorite spicy tofu side dish.
It had crunchy outside, soft smooth texture inside with savory flavour and also served with dried chilli spicy seasoning. Mom likes to enjoy it without the spicy seasoning while me, i always give the spicy seasoning to my tofu..
Anyway we had a great time in this restaurant and although the service was not as great as the branch which we usually go for a dine in, we still would come there again next time.
So wanna try their noodles and also spicy tofu too?
Thanks for reading my article, hope you enjoy it and stay tune for more CRAFT things from me!
