Hello, friends especially needleworkers!
Yesterday was Sunday, so YAY finally I could have my me-time doing my craft. I already been thinking about this cute koala for a few days (even weeks maybe), but I still have my WIP project to do (I made projects day by day, doing mistake, a big one then start it over, but it would be okay, and I got another idea for my another abandoned project which would be great.. I can’t wait to realize them, 2 of them, then share it to all of you, especially for my community friends @needleworkmonday). But now let me share to you how I made my mini pal yesterday.
Project Time: approximately 6-7 hours
Difficulty: Quite difficult for me because it had tiny body, only around 7 cm height.
Skills Needed:
- French knot
- Whipped stitch
- Blanket stitch
- Back stitch
Materials & things needed:
- Felt fabrics light grey, soft pink, black, white, pink and soft green
- Craft scissors
- Embroidery floss
- Sewing needle
- Filling stuff (I used dacron fiber)
How to make it:
1ST
I cut off the grey felt for the head, two identical of it. Then I cut of the wavy ears in soft pink and grey. The grey ones were larger a bit than the soft pink ones, like below.
2ND
Next, I cut a black nose and an eye. Then I cut the body with feet.
3RD
Trimmed it and I made another identical one. Also I cut off the small hands, four of it (2 pairs). Also I cut white for the tummy.
4TH
Then I whipped stitch the eye and nose. Also I hand sew the pink on the grey for the ears. With double black floss I made the smiling lip.
5TH
Same way I did for the closed eye. I cut off two tiny cheeks with the pink felt.
6TH
I then did the french knot to put on two tiny cheeks.
7TH
Next I whipped stitch the white tummy on the body. I also joined with the hand sew for the two hands on the body.
8TH
I joined the hand with the hand front part with the blanket stitch and before I closed it I put some filling inside. I did the same for the other hand.
9TH
Then after finished with both hands, I also hand sew the head to the body (back part). Then I joined it with the front part with the blanket stitch and I also put the two pair of ears with the whipped stitch.
10TH
Before I closed the head, I also put some filling to it. Then I did the last part of the koala, blanket stitch around the body, put the filling then closed it. Mini cute koala is done, it was only 7 cm in height.
11TH
Finished with the koala, I struggled with the outer leaves. I measured it with the koala so it would be right for the pocket. I cut two of the identical leaves with soft green felt.
12TH
Then I sew the front leave with the back stitch for the fingers, only some of it. After that I did the blanket stitch to the back leaf.

VOILA, now this mini pocket koala in leaves is ready to put anywhere I like. I like the soft feeling of it and it is also so cute in appearance. How do you think of it?
