Hello, friends especially foodies!
If you talk about noodle in my country you will find so many, but the one that is a legendary over decades from my mother’s childhood moment was this one. Located in a small street at Pasar Baru area in Central Jakarta.
THE SMALL STREET, THE ONLY ACCESS TO THE LEGENDARY RESTAURANT
Here how the street to the restaurant looked like.
You needed to walk a bit even when you drove a car here. On this small street, there were some other food stalls.
THE OUTLOOK OF THE RESTAURANT
And here how the restaurant looked from the outside
It looked like an old house. And before entered the restaurant’s dining area you will see their chefs were cooking at the front, yes they had an open you would be able to see kitchen in front.
THE DINING AREA
They had a quite large dining area with only 50% capacity of customer during this pandemic situation. The dining area had air conditioner and also some air purifiers. It also quite comfortable for an old restaurant. We came there at 10 am something and they already had some customers there, nice. They are still legendary until now.
THE MENU
They hung the menu on one side of their dining area, and also they would give us their small order menu which we needed to write down our order. For the menu, they didn’t put any prices of the food or drink there.
They sold noodles with chicken or pork toppings and also other toppings like meatballs, fishballs or their tasty legendary pork dumplings. They also sold rice noodle, kwetiau (flat rice noodle), locupan (like Japanese udon) and also side dishes plus some kind of rice dishes. For the drink they didn’t have too many variations but they still had some ice dessert like coconut, grass jelly or even orange too.
THE FOOD & THE OUTLOOK
The service here was also good they would quickly serve you after you entered. Then we ordered then waiting at around 10-15 minutes to get our order delivered to our table. Here how our brunch looked
Both mom and I ordered their chicken mushroom noodle with half portion of their pork dumplings. Aren’t they look so yummy?
THE TASTE & THE FLAVOUR
Now I would like to share about the food we had, for the noodle, both mom and I ordered their chicken mushroom noodle.
CHICKEN MUSHROOM NOODLE
It was special cause they handmade the noodle, it had chewy soft texture but you could still feel the texture and it had some weight so it would make you full. It had savory tasty flavour and cooked with the pork oil. For the toppings they used no fat chicken and also mushroom which also tasted savory. So delicious and unforgettable, they sold an old style tasty noodle!
And the second menu that we shared was their pork dumplings, half portion means they gave us 5 pieces of their tasty pork dumplings and we shared it for two.
PORK DUMPLINGS
Their pork dumpling had soft skin. And the pork filling was soft and also smooth. It tasted savory but the soup had light flavour. Like the noodle, they also put some chicken and also mushroom on its’ top. Really delicious and we loved it much.
THE PRICE
After had our perfect brunch we paid 105,600 IDR and this price included 10% tax plus a bottle of mineral water. It actually around 7.4 USD but it was worth the price.
So when will you try our legendary over decades noodles & dumplings too?
