Hello to all the ladies, I want to congratulate all the women who make life in this community every week for reaching community contest # 100, and what better way to celebrate it, than making a publication on the topics that were presented, this time I chose the second one, **The online scams**.
Since I started registering on social networks I had been cautious when accepting friend requests, I do not like to add strangers to my networks, however, by trusting the information provided by one of these networks I went through an unpleasant situation, although fortunately, I did not suffer any scam.
In 2020, before Venezuela entered the isolation phase due to the pandemic, I found a friend request from a man on Instagram that I did not know, this network indicated that we had two friends in common, so I decided to confirm it out of curiosity. As soon as I gave him my consent, he sent me a greeting message, which seemed strange to me, but I responded and put my cell phone on silent as I do every night before going to sleep.
The next day, I again had a message from this individual who suggested that we continue our chat through Hangouts, which I had never used before, but I agreed, and we continued to chat there, it was the typical chat of two people who are getting to know each other.
But there was a conversation where I felt suspicious, since he asked me again what city I lived in, information that I had already given him, so I decided to go to his Instagram profile again and found to my surprise that it did not exist.
I immediately wrote him that he was dishonest, therefore, I did not want to have any contact with him, I closed the Hangouts chat, and I never heard from that person again, I tell you that all that happened in less than a week if before I was reluctant to accept friendships of strangers in my social networks now I am more so.
I think one of the ways to avoid the scams that are emerging in the social networks is to always be clear that the person behind the computer you do not know, therefore, you should avoid personal information, be aware of the questions you are asked, and how repetitive they can be, and if you feel lonely, with many desires to meet someone, you should be very cautious, scammers are very skilled at sniffing the needs of their victims.
