Una falla común en nuestras cocinas es que se nos tape el fregadero, algo que todos odiamos y que a veces es un problema grave y difícil de solventar, aunque no parezca es un inconveniente bastante recurrente y en parte esto pasa por el hecho de arrojar grasas o aceites a través del desagüe, esto no quiere decir que si no vertemos ninguna materia grasa en el desagüe no nos va a suceder, no de manera directa ya que el simple hecho de lavar los platos y las ollas implica estar arrojando en pequeñas cantidades grasas junto con restos de comida que tarde o temprano empezarán a formar una especie de “masa” dentro de la tubería que poco a poco ira creciendo a medida que vayamos utilizando el fregadero para lavar los trastes, dicha masa en algún momento ocasionará una obstrucción que en el peor de lo casos habrá que solucionar destapando el drenaje y limpiando el problema de raíz, situación desagradable en parte por no poder usar el fregadero, también porque dicha obstrucción ocasionará malos olores y sin contar los gastos en plomería que se tendrán que hacer para remediar el problema.

En mi caso, después de un tiempo usando el fregadero noté que el agua empezó a bajar lentamente, aparte después de fregar por las noches se podía sentir un ligero olor desagradable eso me dio el indicio de que mi fregadero estaba empezando a taparse, esto me alarmó un poco puesto que casualmente en casa de mis padres recientemente se les tapó el fregadero y después de muchos intentos que fracasaron tuvieron que recurrir a un plomero y gastar una cantidad de dinero considerable para poder destapar la tubería, la obstrucción ya era muy grave y no podía solucionarse de “manera casera”.

Para evitar que mi tubería se terminase de tapar opté por buscar en el supermercado hidróxido de sodio o soda cáustica, este es un químico muy fuerte que al entrar al contacto con materia grasa hace que ocurra una reacción química llamada “saponificación”, en palabras sencillas y para no complicarnos mucho básicamente convierte las grasas o aceites en jabón, es el mismo químico que se utiliza para hacer jabones artesanales, en fin, la marca mas conocida de hidróxido de sodio acá en Venezuela es el “diablo rojo” y de hecho es muy barato y fácil de conseguir, la presentación de 300gr me costo 3 dólares.

Una vez llegué a la casa lo primero que hice fue leer las instrucciones, basta con añadir dos cucharadas del químico en el drenaje, verter media taza de agua tibia para que se active, esperar 10 minutos para que actúe y finalmente verter media taza de agua hirviendo para que la obstrucción disuelta se vaya, lo hice al pie de la letra y para mi sorpresa no funcionó por lo que opté al siguiente día repetir el proceso pero esta vez dejándolo actuar por toda la noche, al siguiente día vertí el agua hirviendo en el drenaje y esta vez el problema estaba solucionado, mi desagüe bajó como si nada, fue una solución fácil, rápida y sobretodo barata.
