If I hadn't inherited the family trait of enormous ears which protrude at right angles from the head, I’m sure my father would have demanded a paternity test. I was different from the rest of them, like one sane soul adrift in a sea of madness.

If I can say one positive thing about my parents, it’s that they made our lives……. lively. There was never a dull moment in our uproarious household. We were forever on the move as flat after flat was lost when the rent bypassed the landlord and made its way to the pub.

I grew up as fast as I could and weary of the nomadic lifestyle, by the time I was 19 I’d bought my own place and was free to pursue a life of calm normality.

However, within a few months of my escape, the family home was repossessed, leaving 2 x siblings and 2 x parents homeless but thrilled to move into my smoke-free, alcohol-free and nutter-free abode. It quickly became just like home with whiskey bottles and ashtrays all over the house and pissed persons lurking behind every door.

How is it that saying goes....you can run, but you can't hide?
