My hungry tummy can only be happy with a satisfying Filipino dish! My country's food 🍲 is really what my taste buds craving for. And so today I'm going to make "Mechado"!
Mechado is a kind of stew in the Philippines with tomato sauce.
The only problem is I don't have tomato sauce in the house. And seriously in my place, there's no food, condiments, ingredients same as back home in the Philippines. So I decided I will try to use tomato ketchup!
We all have our own ways of cooking especially in the Philippines. Different places cook the same dish differently. And just want you to know that I'm not a chef just love cooking and eating!
So we need,
- beef cut into cubes
- tomato ketchup
- soy sauce
- garlic powder
- green peas
- onion
- potato
- pepper
- ground pepper
Now we have the ingredients, let's start cooking!
First, we seasoned the beef with salt, garlic powder and pepper.
Then marinade with soy sauce and tomato ketchup and leave it for one hour. I love this marinade because it's so thick and saucy!
After that, we can start to fry the beef. Don't throw the marinade because we're going to use it later. Set aside the beef.
Then sauté onion, pepper then the potato.
Put back the beef in the pan.
Then transfer it to a pot if your pan doesn't have a lid.
Pour in the marinade, add water and bring to a boil together with the green peas until the beef is cooked!
Lastly, season with salt and pepper as you wish!
And let you be the judge! I love the sweetness and spice in this dish! I have my husband to judge because he too fell in love with Filipino food.
He said it's lovely! Yey! Keeping my man happy. 😊
Try it for yourself!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!
