The Gamma Metroid is the next stage of evolution after the small and clumsy Alpha Metroid. He is bigger, faster, stronger, and has now long limbs with claws at the end to attack his preys. Even though he is a new evolution of the Metroid, the main form hasn't changed much from the Alpha. One could imagine a Gamma as a more developed Alpha, showing the same body parts, but bigger. He is still able to fly, and has his jelly belly more protected, but it is still showing. The three horns on his face now have grown to disproportional sizes, giving him a more menacing appearance, his shell is thicker and his eyes have tripled. It is indeed a monster on the making.
Some sketches of the Gamma Metroid.
More sketches, now showing him "running". If he does run or just float, I am not really sure.
His visuals have changed little from the original game to the fan remake. The main changes are the colors, which went from light blue to dark purple. The main form in both is of a floating ball with horns. His attacks are lighting bolts and ramming. To defeat him, Samus must hit his soft belly with missiles, which is extremely difficult when the monster is flying around attacking you back.
Drawing him was difficult because it is not obvious which trait of him should be emphasized, in the end I went with the horns and decided to make his belly smaller. It makes him look less of an infant and more of a adolescent, I guess. His blue color reminds me of Steem (lol) and his yellow legs are a bit thin and longer than the original design, but I figured that since he mostly floats, his limbs aren't strong and full of thick muscles for running and jumping, but probably just a away to catch small prey between the caverns of the planet. The drawing was done traditionally, with the line done with my pigma microns and the colors with normal color pencils.
