Hello everyone! Today I'm going to share a drawing I made for another Inktober prompt. It is a large animal.

The prompt for Inktober Day 9 is 'Ram'

A ram is a sheep with large, spiral looking horns. They are used during fights with other rams when they are headbutting. I actually don't know much about ram but they look so large in videos. I don't think I've ever seen a ram in my life. So let me just get into the drawing.

The Process

Here's a basic outline of the ram I drew. I just estimated how much space I need to draw the features. I didn't have a good start and already feel like I was messing the drawing.

Then, I added some feature to his face like the eyes, nose and mouth. I definitely made some mistakes and drew a weird looking ram face. However I tried to fix it by overdrawing all around. At some point, I thought of just drawing it again on a new sheet of paper but I continued anyway to see how it will turn out. Lastly I added the ears. It was the easiest part at least.

After that, I added a pair of massive horns to his head. I wonder how much weight they have and how the rams have to carry their horns on their heads. They seem so large but I guess it is their adaptation to competition amongst themselves for necessities and mates. It will be a disadvantage if they got little horns or if it gets broken during fights. I added so many lines to give them some shape and shaded them over and over again.

Finally, I drew his body and shaded that too with many lines using my ink pen. As I kept shading more, I felt like the body kept getting bigger. It was deliberate as I thought I wasn't drawing it large enough. This is the final outcome. Honestly, it was not a very fun drawing but I saw it to the end.

Another inktober prompt conquered. But I'm still one drawing behind. I guess I need to do a double shift in order to catch up on that. Thank you for dropping by and I wish you a great day ahead!
