The mural that my eyes painted.
Hello everyone in the community!
I know that the tradition of this community is based on discovering and describing the art that is made and expressed in the streets, both as artistic proposals, as well as the popular expressions of creators or not so creators reflected on walls and walls.
But today I want to share with you something that may be an exception within the tradition. Especially because this time it is not in the city, but in the countryside.
And another "especially" is because it has been painted unheard of.
This extraordinary work (at least for me) is in the countryside and, although it is visible to everyone, possibly no one has seen it or noticed it.
Nor is it made with the traditional techniques that are known until now. The only instrument that has been used is the brush of time and the persistence of water. The support is a huge tank to store water. When I was a child, the tank was already quite old. Its circular shape has a height from the ground to the edge of approximately three meters or more, and it has always been used, in addition to serving a group of houses with liquid, for irrigation in the surrounding lands, almost all of which are dedicated to the cultivation of tobacco.
Every time I pass near this artificial reservoir, I cannot help but observe its circular and slightly conical wall towards the mouth, in which the humidity that subtly comes out through cracks in the masonry has been creating shapes expressionist and phantasmagorical in which I feel like seeing some pious ones in the style of Ponce de León.
The face facing the road seems to me, from afar, to be a group portrait with quite suggestive figures and other amorphous ones that give the impression of movement and interaction.
The lichen that has been impregnating the wall has a lot to do with the formation of these images, a product of the constant humidity, which, depending on the time, takes on colors and different textures.
The amount of things that these water spots and paradisiacal vegetation suggest is impressive: people, animals, ghosts, beautiful abstractions, etc.
The almost perfect image of a Spartan or Roman warrior, or any other heroic legion, is surprising, made up of different types of plants attached to the wall. That, even taking close shots, does not give up its essence. Incredible!
These great images appear around the tank that also change depending on the time of day and the humidity level. For example, that large reservoir, now a product of the energy crisis, is hardly receiving any water; In parts where humidity has decreased, plants die and take on a different color. Thus the natural mural mutates, and also shows its beauty.
I have painted this extraordinary outdoor mural with my children, helped by nature, and I show it to you so that more people know of its existence and so that it does not get lost in the anonymity of a wall that does not know of the wonder that has bled through its cracks, year after year, days after days.
Thank you for joining me in this pictographic vision of a wall.
