Hello! Today I want to share with you one unexpected mind blowing take away experience in Seremban. We all know, coming to Negeri Sembilan, the 9th states of Malaysia known as the famous baked buns, everybody will be expecting to stop by the huge factory by the highway side. Today, I'm taking you to a place where only the local knows, and probably a few others who care to research will find their way here! The Siew Pau Asia! Why Asia? I don't know why, in the 9th state, Asia seems like a thing. They have one of the best curry house called Asia Laksa(coming up future intro #tasteem). Not surprise to have famous pastry shop by the name of Asia. Oh wait, there's another motor exhaust shop in town called Asia Motorsport, which they produced some of the loudest exhaust notes from the cars they modified.
We arrived this place by 2:30pm and there is less crowd during that time, especially it's on a Monday! Who will come here to queue for pastries take away during working hour on Monday? The answer is, a lot! I don't wanna comment on other brand bake buns, but this is one of the most preferred shops I found from the locales whilst I was assigned to work here for 2 years.
By the look at these fags, you'll probably know these are tourists. Everybody needs to queue up for their turn. Note that there's a banner over there at the entrance saying PLEASE QUEUE UP. There are more Chinese wording, but I guess it's just too much for them to translate it, so I'll do it on behalf, it was saying "Dear customers, please queue up. We apologize for the inconvenient caused".
All items are properly price tagged, and therefore you do not need to worry if being cheated. The only problem you may have, is the timing. If you come during public holiday, you're going to have to queue up, place your order, settle the bill, go for a shopping and come back to collect later. They only bake whatever is needed, and never leave those pastries overnight! One thing to highlight, the locals seldom eat the bake buns, those on the left side. Those are famous because other states doesn't do this kind of recipe. BUT!!! BUT! The locals are just regular Cantonese, like the ones in Ipoh town! They eat ordinary Chinese food. What the local people enjoyed most is not the bake buns, it's the on at the middle, called Chan Pau, minced meat bun! The bun is so soft and the minced meat are properly seasoned and has the kind of savory one can taste is expansive restaurant! And also, the egg tart is really soft, not too sweet!
Trust me, this restaurant has absolutely nothing to do with that pastry shop(factory), but this is the best landmark. Tourists come to this noodle shop due to their famous old taste, and the pastry factory is just right opposite of this! We decided to have our lunch here and the same time I went and packed up some tasty pastries.
Here is it, the golden egg tart that will melt your brain if you are not prepare for the crazy explosive taste from the egg fillings. The pastry skin is so soft, by removing it from the casing already start falling apart! Once again I would like to mention, it's one of the most famous Siew Pau(bake buns shop) in Seremban, but what the locales enjoy the most are the egg tart and the minced meat buns. Trust me on this, you can buy some bake buns for the sake of do the tourists thing, but be sure to try the local choice.
