The strong wind was a few days ago. My brother called me to tell me that wood is all over the front lawn and my brother and mom wanted to pay me to clean up the wood.
Of course I like odd jobs and could use the extra money.
So I came over on Friday, but when I was there the electricity was off. That happens a lot with the strong winds.
Even at my own place do I see pieces of my roof on the ground. I do need a new roof, but not at the moment, as I still have to pay off some loans, then I can save for a new roof.
Well, I did come over with some pruning shears, I didn't bring my electric chain saw. I thought if the electricity did come back on I could use my dad's old electric chainsaw. My dad passed away back in 2009.
So I came over to my mom's and brother's to eat lunch as I always do on Fridays and later on in the day the electricity did come back on. So I went into the garage to look for my dad's old electric chainsaw. I did find it, but I noticed that the bar oil was down in its container in the chainsaw.
So I when around the garage to see if there was some chainsaw bar oil lying around. I did find the bar oil and put some into the chainsaw.
You can see in this picture what was on the front lawn of my mom's and brother's place.
That is a lot of wood. I would ask, how come some of those pieces look like a chainsaw cut them? Well, on some of those pieces a chainsaw did cut them.
You see when the big wind came, it blew branches on the grass and the street. Well, some of those pieces where just too long, so they cut the pieces just enough to put on the lawn.
You see, their job was to get the pieces off the street so traffic could run smoothly. So some of the smaller stuff was cleaned up, but most of it is now on the grass.
Well, with my dad's electric chainsaw I did cut up the bigger pieces and brought them home. It was enough to fill the bed of my Chevy S10 truck. So I do have some wood to burn and since this tree was a dead tree, the wood is pretty dry and good for burning now.
My mom's neighbor told me that someone was going to come and clean up my mom's grass and his grass of all the branches and limbs of the dead tree.
I told him that I would take some of it for firewood and he told me to go ahead and take whatever I needed. So I worked on sawing up different pieces and loading them into the truck.
I was working on it until it was pretty dark. Then I tarped the load and rested for awhile as I was drinking some lemon water that my mom made. Lemon water is refreshing after cutting up and loading firewood.
Let's end with a scripture, as it is written, with Jesus speaking, I am the vine, ye the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. John 15:5.
