ARE YOU FEELING STUCK?

Freestyle Poetry in Motion • Improv
This song began with one of Makis’s guitar improvisations, “Improvisation Jamming. Keep Going Forward.” His original jam was around fifteen minutes long. I took the opening section and cut it down to just over five and a half minutes, loaded it into my Sonar recording software, and started freestyling over it.
I let the lyrics flow with his guitar. Along the way, I wrote a few things down, did some retakes, and added backing vocals to what became the chorus. The song grew out of that conversation between his playing and whatever was trying to come through me.
I’ve been moving through depression, the pain of losing my family as I’ve known it, and trying to live an awakened life while feeling surrounded by so much negativity. Awareness doesn’t stop the hurt. Sometimes I can see how much I’m overthinking and still struggle to put the fight down.
Lately, a lot of my music has been taking place inside the void—visually, and inside my head while I’m writing. A place of nothing. Just me, trying to stop searching long enough to feel what’s here.
“Are You Feeling Stuck?” lives in that space. Running from a feeling I couldn’t name. Looking for freedom and drifting further from myself. Wondering what happens when I stop treating every ache as something I have to fix.
“But the door was never locked
I was just afraid to stay”
For the video, I used Makis’s original performance footage and pushed it into a deep, stark black and white, pulling down the highlights until much of the image disappeared into black. I combined that footage with AI-generated images of myself inside the void, then added the lyrics and a thin waveform through the center that responds to the music.
Thank you for listening and spending a little time in this space with us. If you’re feeling stuck too, I hope something here makes you feel less alone.
