I live in California and here in California we have to do smog checks on the cars that we drive and if you do a smog check and there is a check engine light on in your car, then your car automatically fails the test.
Well, this check engine light comes from my 89 Nissan Sentra. So my 89 Nissan Sentra is 34 years old as I write and the thing still runs, but the check engine light is on.
You know when I first bought this car used, back in 1995 and it was only about 6 years old at that time, the girl that sold it to me, told me that the check engine light comes on, but then goes off and that she brought it to a mechanic and they told her that there is nothing wrong with the car.
So in those days I would just wait for the check engine light to go out eventually. Well, one time it didn't go out, but stayed on, then I had to have my mechanics try to figure out what is wrong. Well, that was some decades ago and here it is again, the dreaded check engine light.
What am I going to do about it? Well, I will just drive it with the check engine light on. I think I have until August, before I have to do something about it.
With cars this old, I do have a hard time finding parts, and sometimes my mechanics have a hard time finding parts also.
But it is a drivable car. I just don't want to take it on the freeway too much. It is a good car for going around town, but I wouldn't take it out of town, unless it is an emergency. It makes a lot of noise when it goes too fast. Well it is a 34 year old car, I don't even see many 89 Nissan Sentras on the road when I drive it.
I even had people come to me and want to buy my 89 Nissan Sentra, a girl wanted to know if she could buy it, I asked her why she would want to buy it, she told me that it looks cute, is why she wanted to buy it. Well since it is pretty old, maybe one could think it would be a cool car to drive..
Well, it is a cool car to drive as even in the winter I have to drive the car with the air conditioning on. That is the only way to get a fan moving at the radiator. You see with an old car there are things that one must do to keep the old car going.
I even have a hard time opening the driver side door as the key doesn't always open the door. To save time I sometimes just keep the door unlocked, who is going to steal a car that is 34 years old, anyway?

Not a bad looking car. About the check engine light, I will worry about that later.
