So my old mouse is on the left. It is from my Gateway computer that I bought back in 2008. Well, I guess it lasted 11 years of service, that is pretty long.
What happened is that it would double click when I would do a single click. It would mess things up. I should have bought a new one sooner, but I guess it finally bugged me so much that I actually bought a new one.
So the new one is the one on the right. It is a amazonbasics product. I find that it works pretty good and it doesn't double click on me when I single click.
That double clicking when I was single clicking made it hard to mark and copy. So frustrating.
So why did they call it a mouse? Look at it. For a rodent it looks more like a rat. Can you imagine calling the mouse, a rat? Yes, your new computer comes complete with CPU, monitor, keyboard and rat. Well, I find those words kind of amusing.
I remember the days when computers didn't even have a mouse. Yes, I have an old IBM XT computer. No, mouse as in those days the mouse wasn't put out to high production until Apple put them with their computer back in 1988.
I think my IBM XT was a 1982 computer. I didn't buy it in 1982. Nope, I bought my IBM XT used maybe around 1986 or so. Well, I will be keeping that old computer as maybe 30 years from now maybe it will be worth something.
Right now it might be worth two or three hundred dollars. Well, thirty years from now if I am still alive that is, it might be worth something more. We shall see.
I even have some old Bible software that works with my 1982 IBM computer. I even have an old dot matrix printer that works with it also. Then again thirty years from now it might not even be worth anything. Time will tell.
I even remember doing my taxes on it, until they stopped making tax software for it.
Since I had no computer that would work with the modern software for taxes I just went back to doing taxes by hand. I don't know why I didn't buy another computer. Maybe cause I didn't have much money in those days.
The one I bought in 1997, I bought at a computer fair. My friend was into computers and told me I should buy one when he took me to that computer fair. Well, that is when I bought my second computer. It have Windows 95 on it along with Office 95. In those days the mouse had a ball that would roll on the mouse pad.
It was a pretty good computer, but in those days the internet I had was dial up internet. I don't think I could go back to days like that when the internet was so slow.
In those days I did have 2 lines into my house. I would use one line for the internet dial up and for faxes. The other line I have for talking on the phone. I remember about at that time when there was a hay day in the telephone company, where homes may have 2, 3 or even 4 lines into the house.
When DSL came to my neighborhood I was happy to see things work faster. I just can't remember when I went from dial up to DSL. Now days I have uverse.
Those were the days before Youtube. Youtube wouldn't even come about until 2005. I know that facebook came in around 2004, but I didn't get on it until 2010.
Before that I was on Myspace. I would talk to younger people around 2003 and they told me about Myspace. Well, in those days it was a big thing.
It was when all my friends went from Myspace to facebook, so I did finally move to facebook in 2010. Yes, they kept on telling me that Myspace is dead and that the new thing is facebook.
So let's get back to the mouse. This amazonbasics mouse is pretty good, when I single click it actually single clicks. I am glad I bought it. It almost feels like I got a new computer. Well, to me anyway.
