Growing Some Broccoli Seedlings

I dropped a bunch of broccoli seeds in a pot full of potting soil. Well they all started growing so I separated them from the pot and put them into trays with potting soil.

This is just one of the trays. Some of these plants I will give to my mom and some I will grow in pots.

I seem to like the leaves a lot. I mix them with my Swiss Chard and kale. Of course the crowns are good too.

Last year when my broccoli plant flowered then went to seed, I just kept all the seed in an empty garden pot with the seeds still in the pod. So I have a lot of seeds.

It is always good to keep seeds of the food plants that were grown from the previous year. This will give you self-sustainability just in case there is some kind of economic crash.

Well I see that maybe there can be an economic crash like that of 2008-2009 only worse. Of course I could be wrong, but it is always good to prepare.

As it is written, Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise: Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler, Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest. Proverbs 6:6-8.

So it is good to grow your own food.

It is also written, Build ye houses, and dwell in them; and plant gardens, and eat the fruit of them;
