Having a good day out over at the Peak District, I was a bit disheartened at the rubbish weather I'd had all day. It was one of those windy, but warm and humid days, I thought I'd go for a walk over the great ridge.
I started the walk going up to the summit of Mam Tor, which is very easily accessible as it's not far from the road, and this would be the steepest part of the walk. As you can see it gets rather busy on the summit.
I carried on walking down the parth over the great ridge.
Beautiful views over the valley, looking towards Castleton and Hope, the large buidling is the cement works at Hope. If this view looks familiar with you, Channel 4 in the UK use this for view for presenting programs about to start etc.
Looking back on the way I'd already walked, there was no let up in the clouds.
My final destination was the ledge at the top of the hill, where I could admire the view over towards Edale.
Having spent a bit of time, chilling out and contemplating thoughts, I decided to head back, a steady walk, but so glad I headed back when I did.
As I got back to the summit of Mam Tor, mother nature decided to put on one her spectacular light shows, this certainly made of for the rubbish light etc throughout the day.
It must have lasted for around 10-15 minuts, then all of a sudden, it changed again to the drab cloud that had been around all day.
This is certainly one of those "right time, right place shots", it did learn me that no matter how crap the weather may be, it may be worth just giving it a chance.
Hoping to get out next week on an adventure to either, Thors Cave, Three Shires Head, or Chrome Hill, as the hill is one place I need to explore more.
